Is Guild Wars 3 a thing? ›

Guild Wars 3 came up in a recent shareholders meeting at NCSoft, with the company effectively announcing it's in development. I doubt this will have much effect on GW1 given how cheap it is for ArenaNet to keep the servers online, but it's interesting news nonetheless.

Guild Wars 2 was released on August 28, 2012.

You can never change your class or race, and once you invest hero points unlocking an elite spec, those are permanently invested, but you can always get enough of those, so they aren't a limited resource. You can change character build (skills and specialization traits) freely between anything you've unlocked.

Current meta favors Revenant, Engineer, Mesmer, and Necromancer most, with Ranger and Thief being the next most common. Guardian isn't as popular as it used to be, but is also still incredibly incredibly strong. Warrior builds are a bit one-note, but get the job done.

Druid and Chronomancer have pretty much defined the support role in GW2, making Mesmer and Ranger the best support classes.

The player's race determines their biography questions, tutorial mission, starting area, and early to mid personal story, including racial sympathy options. Race also has an effect on how certain NPCs react to the character.

Every class has good builds for every game mode. It is more a question of what class you like. If you settle on that between all the expansion builds you will find one that works for each game mode. No class is completely bad or good.

Dynamic Level Adjustment in GW2 works quite well. As long as your real level is 1 higher than the mobs level, it doesn't really matter what your real level is, your attributes are downscaled to an effective level of mobs lvl +1.

With two more expansions still in the works set to launch this year and in 2025, respectively, Guild Wars 2 players aren't hurting for new content. That's why the news that ArenaNet is working on a proper third game in the series came as such a shock.

The Guild 3 system requirements state that you will need at least 8 GB of RAM. Additionally, the game developers recommend somewhere around 16 GB of RAM in your system. The Guild 3 will run on PC system with Windows 7, 8, Windows 10 (64 bit), Windows 11 (64 bit) and upwards.
