Boruto: Naruto Next Generations TV Review (2025)

A Lot or a Little?

What you will—and won't—find in this TV show.

  • Positive Messages

    some

Themes include family, friendship, teamwork, courage, sacrifice, hard work, training, modernization, and change.

  • Positive Role Models

    some

Boruto has a selfless but intense nature when it comes to protecting his family, friends, and community. He's an exceptionally gifted ninja because he's serious and hardworking about his ninja skills. He starts the series arrogant and cocky, but he grows and learns to not look down on his teammates and appreciate the value of teamwork. Despite his impressive combat ability Boruto prefers to avoid conflict and confrontation. Instead, he attempts to find peaceful solutions and tries his best to help redeem villains from their evil ways. There are also many older characters from the Naruto series who return as mentors in this series to teach their students the importance of responsibility, hard work, and perseverance.

  • Diverse Representations

    some

This Japanese series is set in a fictional world. The cast is male and female characters; their race isn't mentioned but most of the characters appear light skinned and are presumably Japanese due to shared cultural characteristics. Both men and women serve in leadership and combat roles in the Boruto universe, and it is common to see women participate as combatant ninja throughout the series. One of the main characters is adopted into Boruto's family and they become like brothers. There's a teen character Cho-Cho who becomes self-conscious about her appearance and tries to lose some weight.
