Is the Blue Beetle worth watching? ›

Blue Beetle has a cheap kid's TV-movie look and feel most of the time. I enjoy the social commentary, some of the horror leanings, the film's anime action and some dialogue and character moments stand out. But beyond that, it's sadly, predictably, nothing especial.

Rotten score. Blue Beetle is the kind of throwback that reminds us just how far we've come with comic book movies... Especially when the studio behind them plays it so safe, the end result is as bland and flavorless as this.

The action of Blue Beetle is lame and uninspired, lacking any creativity or spectacle. The film does not make good use of the Scarab's abilities or potential, limiting it to basic weapons and shields. The fight scenes are boring and repetitive, featuring generic enemies and locations.

Despite some good special effects on the Blue Beetle costume itself, the film never overcomes the fact that it was envisioned as an HBO Max original movie. Consequently, the action is very dialed back compared to other comic book movies, and the fights are often boring to watch.

Beetle can lift twenty tons at his best and Venom can lift over two hundred at his worst. this would make Venom a minimum of ten times stronger than Jamie. And while Jamie could destroy the planet(it was implied at least) it is very unlikely he would use such power on Venom in the first place.
